Conference theme

Experiencing arts therapy is a commitment to oneself, to the other, to the working area, to the

learning area, also to our own identity as a person and as a therapist and to the materials and tools

we use.

Why Commitment?

These days the world seems to become a more and more troubled place to be, there is too little

respect living among us, not only for other people, but also for our environment, the animals, the

insects, the flowers and the trees, the rivers, the seas and oceans, the air we breath.

This is worth fighting for.

With the 4ArTS encounter 2017 we want to make a little difference and try to bring some positive

thoughts and behaviour to the future all over Europe and further. We want to affect with attention

and real intrest. Because we know, for true relationships, there has to be a personal investment

from all participants. These investments usually pass by with the flair of the moment, quickly and

unconscious. Almost not noticed, because we are used to act this way. Nevertheless these

investments are very important if we really want to meet the others, if we really are interested in the

others, if we really want to learn from each other. Arts therapists have a special way contacting and

connecting with the other. They prefer to use their music, arts, dance, drama or movement to really

get in touch with each other and to achieve higher or deeper goals. They want to meet in

expression, in experiencing, in trust and faith. They know, the other is an individual that has to be

respected the way he/she exists. This way strength can be combined and given space to grow and

explore, to meet new people and create new relationships, between students and therapists from

several countries. We’d like these new relationships to be strong and powerful, to bring some light

into the troubled world we live in. Respectfully using each others qualities to get to a gathered

goal: a world filled with caring people. A place where people live together, in peace and harmony,

with respect and love.

Live and let live!
