Your Hosts

During her whole life Marion has been occupied by all sorts off art materials, partly self-thaught. She developed a fondness for all sorts of sculptures. After enjoying a working life and raising her children, she decided to study at the age of 48. She graduated as an Arts Therapist in July 2016. For her thesis she researched the effects off the Arts Therapy and Storytelling for people with brain injury and aphasia (serious troubles with language in speaking and/or reading and/or understanding and/or articulation). Her research confirmed that the visual work has a huge interactive value when there are almost no words available. This interactivity needs visual work to be recognizable to everyone. Other characteristics contributing to commitment are specially found by ‘playing situations' and the use of preferred materials, experiencing success, personality and empathy as well as the power of photography. To Marion commitment in arts is provided by experimental and free visual work which is equivalent for searching unconscious internal images trying to make them tangible and visible. She is specially interested in turning stone into whatever the stone allows her to.

Ilse is 22 and graduated in 2016 as an Art Therapist. She has always been interested in art and culture. After a year at the Art Academy she decided to study art therapy because she was missing the commitment, quality and the authenticity in contact with each other and the artwork. In her last year she started her own practice. Within her thesis she did research, for her practice, at the contribution of photography as a therapeutic medium for adolescents with low self-esteem. She is always looking for new ways of therapy like photography, or other not so obvious materials. This is how Ilse creates her experiences and feelings and how she tries to make it to be felt by the others. She is also very into installation art and the effect of the experience.

In 2015, Ilse and Marion participated in 4ArTS Bremen. This experience has led to organizing 4ArTS 2017 in the Netherlands.
